Obama’s Real Bipartisan Change So Far: Republicans in His Cabinet

Obama has kept his word regarding change in politics in one way — he is graciously bringing in Republicans into his Cabinet.  Keeping Defense Secretary Robert Gates, from the Bush Administration, was an honest admission by Obama that Gates’ strategy in Iraq and Afghanistan is working.  Kudos for Obama in doing this.

Obama also kept the recent tradition of including a member of the opposite party as  Secretary of Transportation by appointing former Congressman Ray LaHood.  And by nominating Senator Judd Gregg (R-NH) as Commerce Secretary, Obama will create a respectably, politically diverse Cabinet.  Obama deserves ture credit for these overtures.

Now though it is up to Obama to see if he desires to create bipartisanship in the legislative process.  So far, the Stimulus debacle from the House of Representatives is a bad start, but in fairness to Obama, super-liberals from the House hijacked the Stimulus Bill by porking it up with non-stimulative spending.  We will now see if Obama can repair this impaired Bill in the Senate . . .
