Barack Bill Clinton Obama (1/6/09), I warned about Obama bringing in all the old Clinton people into his administration. I pointed out that “the amount of baggage and tunnel-vision that these appointments may herald places Obama’s effectiveness at risk,” and even noted that “appointing reincarnations of past administrations damaged George W. Bush’s presidency.” While Daschle was not part of Clinton’s administration, he was the Senate Democratic Minority leader.
In my opinion, Obama has ignored the “change” mandate when it has come to putting baggage-heavy politicians into his Cabinet. This has cost him in prestige, though it’s hardly fatal. But my predictions made just one month ago have come to fruition.
