Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr. (note that I am not a fan of his dad, Rev. Jesse Jackson, Sr.) claims that in 2007, he went to federal prosecutors regarding Gov. Blagojevich’s misdeeds. If true, Jackson deserves real credit for fulfilling his civic duties and taking moral action.
See http://abclocal.go.com/wls/story?section=news/local&id=6557529. [For a rebuttal of this assertion (unless it's all true that is), please see Josh's Comment to this Post -- from that Comment I am also adding a "?" to the title!]
As an aside, a few years ago, I sat right in front of Rev. Jesse Jackson, Sr. on a shuttle flight from Washington DC to New York. Before the flight, he picked up a cell call and discussed some civil rights issue with the caller. It was kind of cool hearing that famous voice live right behind me!

Allow me a note of skepticism on Jesse Jr.s “good deeds”. Jesse Jr. studied politics at the feet of his father, one of the phoniest politican/people around. And it seems increasingly clear that he was more involved in the Blago scandal than he cares to admit. I’m not sure that what he may or may not have done in 2007 is relevant; what we do know is that associates of Rep. Jackson approached the Governor to discuss some kind of arrangement for the Senate seat. Whether Jackson had direct knowledge of these discussions remains unclear; my bet is that he did.

Josh, thanks for the comment. You are probably correct in that I jumped the gun in that posting, but I was enamored with the possibility that he had (or has) cooperated with the government to reduce Illinois corruption. I agree with you that we need to know more first. I am going to modify my post referring readers to your comment.
